Alfred K Ghemu here,
Originally from Sobiro Village, I later relocated to Bunikalo—a thriving commercial port on Gatokae Island, nestled within the renowned Marovo Lagoon, often referred to as the gateway to the Western Province of the Solomon Islands. Bunikalo offers a peaceful environment and a deeply fulfilling lifestyle, which continues to inspire my professional journey.
Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege of serving in a range of technical and strategic roles across both national and regional organizations. I began my professional journey with the Solomon Islands Government in an entry-level capacity, which laid the foundation for future growth. I then spent 14 years with the Central Bank of Solomon Islands, where I specialized in hardware, software, and network engineering—gaining deep technical expertise and leadership experience.
My career has also included key roles with international and regional bodies such as the Peace Corps Solomon Islands and the Pacific Regional Internet Connectivity System (PacRICS), under the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC). Among these, my decade-long tenure with the Solomon Islands Postal Corporation remains a particularly impactful chapter, marked by professional fulfillment and meaningful contributions.
Each stage of my professional path has presented new challenges and learning opportunities, all of which have contributed to a well-rounded and resilient career in the public and regional development sectors.
